This initial intake therapy session is longer for parents and carers, with the option for the child to attend depending on their age and needs. We’ll discuss your child’s history, goals, and explore how child play therapy can best support them, including any potential financial assistance for therapy if needed.
The 50-minute session includes preparation, planning, and documentation related to child play therapy, as well as the initial intake therapy. It's important to pack up all materials after the therapeutic sessions, especially if financial assistance for therapy is being utilized.
These dedicated meetings provide time for parents and carers to discuss your child’s progress in child play therapy, explore any concerns, receive guidance on supporting them at home, and collaboratively plan next steps. They are an important part of the therapeutic sessions and help ensure we are working together effectively.
Sessions are best scheduled in 10-session cycles to facilitate consistent progress in child play therapy. We also include a review meeting every 5 - 6 sessions with parents or carers to discuss the child’s progress and adjust goals as needed. This structure ensures that the initial intake therapy effectively sets the stage for meaningful therapeutic sessions.
If the therapist is required to attend court in relation to a child or family, the responsible party will be invoiced for the therapist's time and lost earnings.
Written reports, including progress reports, NDIS reviews, and funding applications for financial assistance for therapy, are available upon request. Please allow 10 business days for completion of these documents.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, please reach out. I have a small number of reduced-fee places available each month for child play therapy and I am happy to discuss options.
Child play therapy sessions are organized in 10-session blocks following the initial intake therapy. This structure promotes consistent therapeutic sessions and ensures that dedicated weekly time slots are safeguarded.
