Hi, I’m Tameka!
I am an APPTA registered Child Play Therapist and certified Therapeutic Life Story Work (TLSW™) practitioner with over a decade of experience supporting children and young people in non-profit and private sectors. I specialise in working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, disrupted attachment, and individuals living with autism and ADHD. My approach is deeply humanistic and child-centered.. I believe every child already has everything they need inside them to heal and grow. My role is to create a safe, warm, and nurturing space where they feel truly accepted, heard, and free to lead the way at their own pace. I draw from trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, developmentally attuned, and neuroaffirming principles. Using an integrative approach, I meet each child exactly where they are. I also value working closely with parents, carers, and foster families to ensure they feel supported and more connected to their child.
My Life and Co was born from a simple but powerful belief. That every child and young person deserves to feel that their life truly belongs to them. Children need to be seen as capable, developing individuals with their own voice, experiences, and inner world. They deserve the right to understand their story, express themselves freely, and grow toward a life that feels meaningful, safe, and fulfilling.
The “My Life” speaks to a child’s lived experience. Their past, present, and emerging future. It is about supporting children to understand their life as something meaningful, continuous, and truly their own. Through child‑led, developmentally informed, and neuroaffirming interventions, children are given space to explore their experiences, make sense of their internal thoughts and feelings, and integrate these experiences into their life. This work supports children to develop a felt sense of identity, agency, and continuity over time, knowing this is my life, this is my story, and I have a say in how I grow within it.
The “and Co” represents the secure and supportive network around the child. The parents, carers, families, professionals and therapist. In other words, the child's "therapeutic web". All working together as collaborators. Healing and growth do not happen in isolation. When the adults around a child are attuned, informed, and connected, children are better supported to feel safe, understood, and empowered. Together, we hold the child’s story with care, respect their autonomy, and nurture their capacity to thrive.
